ARIANA’S CAKE SMASH AT MINT ROOM STUDIOS IN TORONTO

Some sessions just radiate sweetness from the moment you walk in, and this baby girl’s first birthday Cake Smash was one of those unforgettable days. As a Toronto Family Photographer, I’ve had the joy of photographing this wonderful family before, so stepping back into their world to celebrate their daughter’s big milestone felt extra special.

This session took place at Mint Room Studio’s iconic Lounge, which had been beautifully decorated with soft pink and purple florals. The setup was dreamy—equal parts modern and whimsical—creating the perfect backdrop for a luxe first birthday celebration. The florals added just the right amount of charm and colour, making every image feel vibrant, feminine, and full of joy.

Our birthday girl arrived ready to shine, dressed in the sweetest outfit and already stealing hearts with her big, curious eyes. She was all smiles as we eased into family portraits, cuddling with mom, giggling with dad, and lighting up whenever her big brother came near. Watching him proudly dote on her was one of the highlights of the session—he brought so much energy and love to the room, making the photos feel lively and natural.

Then came the main event: the Cake Smash. As soon as the pastel cake was placed in front of her, her face lit up in the most adorable way. From delicate pokes to full, enthusiastic handfuls, she explored every bit of frosting with pure delight. Sticky fingers, sweet smiles, and endless giggles—it was the perfect combination of chaos and cuteness that makes first birthday sessions so memorable.

Working with this family again was such a warm reminder of why I love what I do. Capturing milestones, watching families grow, and preserving moments that slip by so quickly—it truly never gets old.
