COLONEL SAMUEL SMITH PARK: A LATE FALL FAMILY SESSION

One of the greatest joys of my work is getting to see families year after year and documenting how they grow and change. This returning family of four, with two energetic boys who always keep things fun, joined me for a beautiful late-fall session at Colonel Samuel Smith Park in Etobicoke.

The park, set right by the lake, gave us such a perfect mix of scenery. Even as the last of the autumn leaves clung to the trees, the shoreline and wide-open paths created a backdrop that felt both seasonal and timeless. The soft golden tones of late fall paired beautifully with the family’s outfits in browns, creams, navy, and greens; a palette that blended seamlessly with the natural surroundings.

We spent the afternoon capturing a variety of moments, from playful shots of the boys together to sweet one-on-one time with each parent. There’s something special about giving kids those little opportunities to shine on their own while also celebrating the bigger family dynamic. I especially loved the moments with dad and the boys, filled with laughter and movement, as well as the quieter embraces between mom and her sons.

The family portraits as a whole were warm and full of connection. the kind of images that feel true to who they are right now. Watching these boys grow through the years and capturing the bond that ties them all together has been such a privilege.

Sessions like this remind me why I love family photography: it’s about preserving a season of life that will never come again, in a way that feels both authentic and timeless. I can’t wait to see where next year’s session takes us.
